Manny Blair shares that the organizing principle behind his work is the abstract depiction of Brutalist architecture that dominated his childhood experience in north west England. Fictional structures are the main focus of his paintings. These structures are set as the dominant element and given further emphasis through the use of an intense color palette.  

He uses a variety of methods to create these paintings. His work is at once freeform and organized.

“The process that I employ is a mix of additive & reductive mark-making. I apply layers of color which are sanded back. I scrutinize the surface, masking out areas to salvage, then repeat the process. It is an on- going curation of accidents.” Manny Blair
